CAVALLS CAMÍ

History of the Camino de Cavalls

The Cami de Cavalls is a historical path that was used to defend the island coast since in 1330, King Jaume Ii established the obligation to maintain an armed horse to defend Menorca and monitor the coast through this field.

Thanks to popular demand, the reopening of this important historical, ethnological and landscape heritage was achieved. Finally, thanks to the recovery work carried out, in 2010 it was inaugurated as a public road, included within the European long-distance routes under the reference GR223.

The Cavalls cami today

Currently the Camí de Cavlls has a length of 185 km which can be divided into 20 stages with different distances and difficulties.

This path can be done both in crossing and in stages or you can simply take walks along its route.

The Camí de Cavalls has various signs throughout the route to make it easy to do.
